Bargaining Update March 2019

The Parties met on 14 March 2019 and we signed a protocol agreement. House Keeping items have been completed earlier with a reduced group of members from each side.

Work then began on the exchanged tabling documents. TRUFA offered a proposal for Better Benefits Package that included increases for existing items such as vision care and dental, as well as new items that included paramedical, hearing aids and osteopathic et al. and orthodontics.

We also opened discussion on benefits for sessionals in all situations of workload. HR is looking at our benefits package and we should know next week the cost of this item in our platform.

The bargaining team then received two documents from the employer, which included Article 11 and Salary items, which was designed to streamline the material to six pages of the Collective Agreement.

The second document looked at Article 7 and Performance Review. The main feature of this language is to expand APARs into a new area and introduce an enhanced APAR where goals would be identified for the coming year and “beyond”. There is a proposal for a new deadline for APAR a summer submission (from September 30th).

We will continue our meetings with the employer on 26 March.
