I acknowledge the Secwepemc Nation, upon whose traditional and unceded land Thompson Rivers University is located (ne Secwepemcúl’ecw). I am grateful for the Secwepemc Nation’s generosity and hospitality while we live, learn and work in their territory.
We [I] would like to begin by acknowledging that Thompson Rivers University campuses are located on the traditional lands of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc [she-KWE-pem] (Kamloops campus) and the T’exelc [teh-huwl] (Williams Lake campus) within Secwépemc’ulucw [she-KWE-pem-cooluc], the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwépemc [she-KWE-pem] peoples. The region TRU serves also extends into the territories of the St’át’imc [stat-lee-um], Nlaka’pamux [Ing-khla-kap-muh], Tŝilhqot’in [Tsill-COAT-ten], Nuxalk [Noo-hulk], and Dakelh [ka-kelh], and Métis [may-tee] communities within these territories.
We [I] would like to begin by acknowledging that the land is located in the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc territory that is situated in the southern interior of British Columbia within the unceded traditional lands of the Secwepemc Nation.
